Mary Of Magdala

Die to Oneself

“Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’

Nicodemus

Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? Truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and witness what we have seen, but you[f] do not receive our testimony. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?”

Darkness At The Crucifixion

It was about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.  Jesus loudly said, “Father, into your hands, I commit my spirit.”When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Mary Watches

She is nearing 50; Mary is no longer the beautiful teenager who carried the Son of Man in her womb. She has the wrinkles of an aging mother, the worry lines of one who knows the suffering to come, but she quietly wishes it away. Her robe is dusty and blood-soaked, the blood of her son. Not the “Divine Heaven Sent,” just her son. The skinned-knee little boy who chased butterflies, skipped rocks across the Galilee River, or woke in the middle of the night with a tummy ache crying to her for comfort.
Mary watches, helpless and heartbroken. This scene is as relevant today as it was two thousand years ago. MARY WATCHES is dedicated to all the mothers and fathers who watch or have watched broken-hearted and helpless as their children (at any age) fight cancer or struggle with addiction or lose them suddenly. May God Bless you and give you strength.

Jesus Prays in the Mountains

One day soon afterward, he went out into the mountains to pray and prayed all night. At daybreak, he called together his followers and chose twelve of them to be the inner circle of his disciples. (They were appointed as his apostles).
