Art-in-the-Park returns to Allentown’s West Park with a rejuvenated format, featuring fine art and crafts by 70+ juried artists from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. A range of two- and three-dimensional works includes jewelry, ceramics, weaving, glass, painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, constructions, and art made from recycled/repurposed materials. High school and college students from Lehigh Valley schools will be participating, providing them with a unique learning and earning opportunity. Demonstrations will be offered by Virginia Abbott, sculptor & member of the National Sculpture Society; Kim Hogan, mosaics; Barnaby Ruhe, portraitist; Sandra Corpora, painter; MaryAnn Riker, book artist; and Liz Hamilton Quay, fiber arts professor at Kutztown University. Prizes will be juried by Lisa Tremper Hanover, Executive Director/CEO of the Michener Museum and Tim Higgins, artist/critic. A new prize category for art made with recycled/repurposed materials has been introduced. Work by participants in a plein air workshop held in the park and directed by Baum School teacher Adriano Farinella will be displayed. Musical and dance performances offered throughout the day. Food and beverages available for purchase. Join us in West Park for an artistic celebration! Rain location: Masonic Temple on Linden Street, adjacent to the park.
